I thought it would be nice to have a spot to post some Favorite Workouts, be it swim, bike, run, or whatever else. I put a spot for this on the discussion board on the Facebook Group because I'm not sure what's easier to post on for people or what's checked more frequently. So I did both.
So in the Comments section, post your favorite workout. I have one posted there now.

My favorite swim. It has a little bit of everything.
WARM-UP:
- 200 swim
- 100 kick
- 200 pull
- 100 kick
- 300 swim
SET:
- 5 x 100 (maintain steady effort throughout on 1:45/2:00/2:30/3:00/3:30. Choose your interval so you have 5-10 seconds rest between).
- 3 x 200 descend (last is fastest) [10 sec. rest]
- 1 x 500 pull [breathe 3,5,7 per 50]
- 4 x 50 as 25 sprint, 25 easy [10 sec rest]
WARM DOWN:
- 200 loosen
My favorite track workout: 8-10x1000 with :60 recovery
My favorite swim workout: probably no such thing, but I like doing sets of 200-100-50.
My favorite bike workout: ride. Riding is so good. But something specific - this ride we have in Frederick, ~55 miles, 5 pretty tough climbs. Do it once a month throughout the year to stay in constant shape.
I have a pretty non-traditional run workout I like to do once a week to change things up. It's from my training for lacrosse in college.
I do them on a grass field where I can either walk out 50 yards or a lined field used for soccer, etc.
5 x 300 Yard Turnovers (Sprints):
- Sprint to the 50-yard line and back.
- Repeat 2 more times to complete 300-yards.
(pretty simple)
I usually time myself at each 300 and give myself around 45 seconds rest.
Not that you need to do it this way, but the "turnover" is giving yourself, say 2:00 minutes to finish the 300. So if you finish in 1:45, you have 15 seconds rest. It basically rewards sprinting faster so you have more rest.
But I usually just time the 300 and give myself 45 seconds rest.
you can always tack on more than 5 of these!
